Natural Carrot Face Mask - DIY Beauty

Hi everyone!

Welcome to yourbeautyblog1!

Sunday!
I love Sundays for many personal reasons, but I love Sundays even more if I am off and have time for myself. I want to share with you a recipe of one of my all time favourite face masks. It is made of white clay and carrot juice. I enjoy fresh expressed carrot juice as a drink, but today it will be a magic ingredient for our face mask.

Carrot face mask

To make face mask you will need:

- 1 fresh carrot, peeled and juiced;
- 2 tsps of dried cosmetic clay (I am using white clay);
- 5 drops of avocado oil;
- 5 drops of argan oil;
- 2 drops of Tea Tree essential oil (optional);
- 2 drops of Rosemary essential oil (optional).

You will need as well:

- Grater and a muslin cloth or a juicer to extract juice from the carrot;
- 1 clean bowl and a tea spoon.

To start with, you will need to extract juice from one medium sized carrot. You can either use your juicer, or grate carrot on the smaller side and squeeze juice out with help of a muslin cloth.

Place carrot juice in the clean bowl and add two tea spoons of clay you like (I am using white clay to eliminate any irritation). Now add avocado oil, argan oil and essential oil/s of your choice (no more than 4 drops).

Do not stir your ingredients in, just add them to the juice and leave for about 10-15 minutes to rest.

Allowing your clay to rest you will get nice consistency and not lumpy face pack. After face mask is rested for about 10-15 minutes, stir it very well, but carefully.

Apply face mask all over your face, neck and upper chest to give all the most exposed parts of your skin boost of vitamins and minerals. Relax and leave mask to dry for about 20-25 minutes, rinse with warm water and a face sponge. Apply toner if you want and/or a light moisturiser.

This natural carrot face mask will leave your skin soft and clean, true treat for a Sunday or any other day you have a bit of time for yourself.

Here are benefits of the ingredients we use today for our treat:

Carrot juice is rich in vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, C, E and K. It is also a good source of proteins like riboflavin and thiamine and antioxidants like alpha and beta-carotene.

White clay absorbs the chemical waste, toxins, died off epidermis cells and excessive fat enriching the skin with the mineral content. White clay is the mildest of all clays and it is suitable for the sensitive skin. It helps to stimulate the circulation of the skin while gently exfoliating it.

Avocado oil is rich in antioxidants, making it useful for helping sun-damaged skin. Antioxidants like vitamin A, D and E in avocado help the skin to be suppler and are particularly good for dry or ageing skin.

Argan oil is high in vitamin E and fatty acid, so it is the ideal product to give skin a natural boost. It absorbs easily and is non-greasy and non-irritating, which makes it a great natural moisturiser.

Tea Tree essential oil has an antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It is great for the skin when you mix it with oils or beauty butters, but you shouldn't apply it on its own. Tea tree oil can cause skin irritation and swelling. If you have acne, it can sometimes cause skin dryness, itching, burning and redness.

I would advice always to do patch test before using any essential oils to reduce side effects. Not everything natural is good for us I am afraid.

Rosemary essential oil has antimicrobial and antiseptic qualities that make it beneficial in efforts to eliminate eczema, dermatitis, oily skin and acne. Rosemary essential oil helps in toning your skin and removing dryness. It can also give your skin a healthy, even glow when used regularly or when is a main component of your moisturiser or other creams.

Stay beautiful,
Marija
